Bild & Bubbla 184 – About maus

If you live in Scandinavia, read comics and don’t know about Bild & Bubbla, then SHAME ON YOU!
Bild & Bubbla is probably the biggest and best comic-book magazine in Scandinavia. This reason issue is centered around Art Speigelman’s MAUS. Its full of great articles and artwork and gives a good overview of what is happening in the Scandinavian world of comics.

I’m so happy to be among so many great artist making their tribute to Art Spiegelmans masterpiece MAUS in this issue. And I can only encourage everyone who can read swedish to pick up Bild & Bubbla issue 184.

Lizard – Fine-tuning some artwork

It’s time to look at my “Lizard” project again. Have to fine-tune some pages and refine some artwork.
Right now I’m re-doing most of page 26. It was not strong enough.

Lizard – final page

Final page of the “Lizard” don and over. Now it is going to lay hidden away for a month.
I will return to it, look it through and make some minor changes to it, when I have got it all out of my system and can look at it with fresh eyes again.

Variations – C’est Bon Anthology

For C’est Bon Anthology vol. 11 the theme is “Variations”. We are doing variations on comics from ealier volumes. All done by members or former members of C’est Bon Kultur.

Here is a little sneakpeak of my variation on Jamil Manis “The Passage”, in my version called “Room”.

Cest Bon Anthology vol.10

Vol.10 has just arrived from the printer. Looks good. And I can’t deny that it makes me a little proud to see my artwork on the cover.

Lizard – page 60 – Acting on paper

This page is the first in a series of very challenging pages. No big action, no frames, only me trying to act out feelings on paper.

This is a scene of memory’s, and therefore no frames. If I had frames to work with I could rely on showing one state of emotion after the other, without worrying too much about readability. But with no frames I have to act out the scene in a flowing motion. Or that was at least my hopes.

I love this kind of challenge. Because for me at least, it is the most difficult. Drawing emotions is a lot of small hints, movement and expressions, put together to form an overall feeling of emotions. It is the small things that count.

I Think it’s hard to do, and I love it. It’s what fascinates me with people, and those very talented artists who masters it. Need I mention any names? Ok I will. Will Eisner, Craig Thomson, Prado and Dave McKean is just some of the really good ones in my opinion.
